Badminton Racquet and Shuttlecock - Cut #12

Todays project inspired by my badminton lessons.  Final project was cut to white, mounted on red with green border card stock.

It started with a simple sketch which was then photoshop (image threshhold plus cutout filter) to produce a black and white png file. The png file is imported Inkscape and traced.

The manual steps to delete tiny nodes, fix object spacing, reduce sharp cut angles begins. This file is saved as a Scalable Vector Graphic.

The svg graphic is imported into Sure Cuts a Lot and then sent to the die cutter where it is cut out of white card stock.  Final result peeled off the cutting mat and mounted on red card stock with a green border.   The Inskape SVG file is further updated after viewing the initial cut problem areas

Bird Cut

Todays two cuts were created from a photo I took this afternoon during a walk

I made two different cutting files from the same image with different photoshop aind inkscape effects.

The version cut from light green and mounted on white card stock was 'auto traced' using inkscape.  The version cut from red with white background was manually created.  It is interesting how the same image can yield such drastically different results.

Hummingbird

Todays project was inspired by a carving which I purchased from Alex Mountain KwAGiuLth of MAMALiLLiKulla BC. Alex is Native carver often found working on the streets of Gastown.

The final result was cut to red, mounted on orange with black border card stock.

I am still working out the kinks of the process. The SVG file and the cutter both need adjustments and then it's bye bye exacto knife :>)

The original wooden carving is show with my 'interpretation' on the cutting mat.
